CLAiT e-portfolio in practice

Assessment for OCR's CLAiT qualifications can now be done completely online. Our CLAiT MAPS e-portfolio allows centres to mark their students' work on-screen - no need for printing or posting.

Tamara Owbridge, Logistics Director and CLAiT Instructor at HBC Academy in London, finds the assessment process much quicker and easier than the paper-based system. "Now I can check and mark everything on screen," she says, "then simply upload the students' files to submit the work. Before, we had to spend so much time printing, collating and filing. With the e-portfolio, we're free to focus more on our students' needs."

All the students' work is saved to one central server, making it easy for tutors and assessors to view at any time. The files are always there when they need them - they can simply take them off the server and work on them from any computer.

Having had such a positive experience with the CLAiT e-portfolio, the team at HBC Academy is keen to be involved in any future developments for online assessment. "I wish we could do everything online in this way," says Tamara. "We would certainly be prepared to try this system for other qualifications - the sooner the better!"
